When you are a performer, all the world is your stage, and this is wonderful and romantic- and the pressure is immense! You feel the calling to perform as a part of you, but there are many internal and external challenges that you face along the way. You may be a classical musician in MD, a pop artist in CA, a vocalist in GA, an actor destined for the stage in NY, a dancer in VA, an acrobat or aerialist in UT, or you may seek your place in the TV or film industry. Many performers have tried their hand at several aspects of performing and struggle to find their creative identity in performance. For any of these struggles and more, Creativity Coaching is here to help.

Pressure to be Perfect
The pressure to perform perfectly in today’s world is immense. Every performance feels the weight of being once performance away from career disaster! This pressure follows you from your practice (after all, don’t you perform how you rehearse?) all the way to the stage (break a leg!) A powerful sense of perfectionism is a burden for most performers that can cripple your natural creative capacity. Creativity Coaching can help you get on top of this pressure and back in touch with your natural talent when you practice and perform.
Do You Have What it Takes? With global accessibility to music, dance, TV, movies and endless social media content, never was there more pressure to have your talent stand out in the crowd. As a performer, your inner critic is likely to rank you and annoy you with constant comparison to the talent around you. This is an emotional and self esteem roller coaster, to be sure! When you are beholden to this unsteady ranking system, you are unsteady and unable to flourish creatively in your art form. Creativity Coaching will help you find stability in your identity as a performer that will sustain you through the ups and downs of your industry today.

Performance Anxiety
To perform is to harness and utilize a large amount of your creative energy at one time, for a specific purpose. Sometimes, our mind and body can misdirect the “holding” of this energy as we prepare to perform as anxiety, and, rather than spur us onward into creative excellence as it is intended to, it can spiral off into anxiety. Understanding how this operates for you, and learning techniques to help you manage your performance anxiety is another important function of my role as your Creativity Coach.
How to Deal with CriticismTo perform is to receive criticism- positive and negative- and this is one of the most personal and emotionally difficult aspects of your artistry. Criticism has reached new heights in today's world, with every-day denizens commenting on all aspects of you a and your work from the safety of their key boards and screens. Dealing with this in an emotionally healthy way is critical to your emotional health as an artist. Criticism and risk go hand-in-hand, you see: you do not fear criticism if you take no risks, and to take creative risks is important to your meaning making as an artist. As your Creativity Coach, I will help you explore your absorption of criticism to your work, your behaviors and emotions surrounding it, and how you can free yourself from what doesn’t serve you.
